SonShine staff share a love of Christ and are committed to providing all children with quality care and developmentally appropriate opportunities. Staff member’s qualifications exceed the requirements of the State of Michigan Children and Adult Licensing Division. All staff members have Child Care Background Check clearance. Staff members, regardless of position and education, are required to obtain 24 hours of annual professional development training, of which 3 of the hours focus specifically on cultural competence and inclusive practices.
Based on a program's Self-Assessment Survey, Validation and on-site assessment, each program is given a Great Start to Quality Star Rating. These ratings range from an Empty Star (not participating) to 5 stars (highest quality). The standards they aim to meet are high. All participating programs are committed to quality and making improvements to help prepare children for kindergarten and beyond.
